The Cavaliers traveled to Kouts last night looking for a competitive game with Kouts, a traditionally strong 1A basketball team. After a 17-15 first quarter it looked like the Cavs had met their match and were in for a dog fight. In the second quarter the Cavaliers pressure shook up the Mustangs enough to allow a 25-8 Cavalier run to take a comfortable 42-23 half time lead. With big man Bryce Cook on the bench in serious foul trouble TC maintaned its lead through the third quarter as Riley Ewen, Bennie Patterson and Nate Patton stepped up their offense to make up for the absence of Cook. The Mustangs posed some difficult defensive matchups for the Cavaliers and found their stride offensively at the half court in the second half, but could not get inside that 20 pt margin to make a run. Bennie Patterson had a huge night scoring 28 pts. Riley Ewen had another great shooting night pouring in 22 and Nate Patton added 19. The victory is the 19th for the Cavaliers vs. 2 losses on the season.
The Victory had some special significance to Coach Tyler Scherer giving him 100 wins at Tri-County against 41 losses in his six seasons as a head coach. Congratulations to Coach Scherer and to the Cavaliers for securing this milestone for their Coach.
The Cavaliers will return home to take on the Faith Christian Eagles on Saturday. The jv start time is 6:00 pm EST.
