Cavaliers News · Cross Country teams perform well at MWC

The Tri-County Cross Country teams ran in the Midwest Conference meet at West Central high school on Saturday.  The junior high girls got the morning started by winning the girls race, 4 points ahead of the second place Lady Vikings of North White.  Sophia Culp paced the way for the girls finishing 4th with a time of 13:18 followed by Madie Spencer coming in 6th at 13:44.  Also scoring for the Lady Cavs were Clara Wamsley (8th, 13:59), Rylee Sheldon (11th, 14:58) and Sydney Stoller (18th, 16:00).

The junior high boys carried the momentum into their race running away with the Midwest Conference title as well.  The Cavaliers placed 3 runners in the top 5 with Luke Lehman finishing 3rd with a time of 12:19 followed by Levi Schambach in 4th in 12:35 and Tyler Burns 5th at 12:47.  Jonah Miller and Ethan Dreblow also scored for Tri-County coming in 7th (12:53) and 12th (13:20) respectively.

The high school girls race followed with Becca Brooks earning All-Midwest Conference honors by placing 4th overall with a time of 22:52.  Brynn Warren (14th, 25:10), Amalee Scheitlin (15, 25:12) and Willa Wamsley (19th, 26:49) placed in the top 20 while Ashley Ford and Grace Rodehan finished 21st and 23rd respectively.

The high school boys finished off the morning placing 5th as a team in the conference.  Justin Kilmer earned Honorable Mention honors by coming in 10th at a time of 18:41.  Evan Getz, James Dreblow and Noah Oiler saw themselves in the top 30 finishing 25th, 27th and 29th respectively.  Ian Brooks also scored for the Cavaliers placing 31st in a time of 21:52 while Logan Doty finished in a time of 22:01 good enough for 33rd.

The high school teams will compete in the Benton Central Sectional this coming Saturday (10/10) with the girls running at 10:30 followed by the boys at 11:15.
